Backing up FossLook Solutions in * .fdmp Format

Always create a backup of your server!
Backup allows you to keep all important data of your company in one place. It can be used to restore the original state after a data loss event.

To back up the database, we recommend that you use the appropriate tools for the DBMS that is used in the solution. So, for example, if you are using MySQL, use MYSQL Backup wizard, which can be found in "FOSS / MYSQL Backup". If you have Microsoft SQL Server installed, we recommend using the Microsoft SQL Management Studio to backup and restore the database.

If you need to migrate the solution from one DBMS to another, we recommend using our FossLook Solution Wizard. This wizard stores the database in it's own file of its own format * .fdmp, which can later be used to restore the solution.

Exporting a Database

Before exporting the database, we recommend clearing the database from unused objects with the help of the task in advanced administration program. To do this, go to the "Tasks / Database Cleanup" and click "Start Now" button. Wait for approximately 5 minutes before the task is completed.

Then, to backup the database, in the Windows start menu select "FOSS / Export and import of FossLook solutions", as a result, you will see a FossLook Solution Deployer Wizard dialog:

Click "Next". In the following dialog, select the first of the two options of the Wizard: Export solution:

In the following dialog, enter the name and path to the file for the backup:

Then enter the settings to connect to the server:

In the next dialog, confirm the settings and click "Next":

Wait until the wizard finishes it's tasks.

As a result, all database data will be copied to the selected file in * .fdmp format.

Importing Data Into a Database

A previously saved solution in the *.fdmp format can be imported into the new instance of the FossLook server. To do this, run the Solution Deployer Wizard again, select the second option "Import solution":

Next, select the previously saved file and follow the instructions that were described before. Wait until the wizard finishes it's tasks.
